30 Day Music Challenge: Days 1-7

So this is something I saw somebody doing on Twitter but I thought I’d do it on my blog instead! I don’t want to clutter my blog with loads of posts so I’m going to split it into 4 posts, the first 3 with 7 days each and the last with 9 days, and I’ll post them every Friday for the next 4 weeks, with the last one on a Sunday. I’m going to try not to use any artist more than once, try to give reasons for my choices and I’ll include a Spotify link with each song.

So here’s the challenge!

Day 1: A song you like with a colour in the title

Red Dress – Lucy Hale:

It was a choice between this and Paint the Town Green by The Script, but as I said I want to try to use each artist only once so I’d rather wait for a later day to use them! But this is such a good song, I discovered Lucy’s music after watching Pretty Little Liars and I’m so glad I did – she has such a good voice and I love her music style. Maybe now that PLL is ending we might get more music?

Day 2: A song you like with a number in the title

Million Miles Away – Keegan Allen:

Again another PLL star, this was Keegan’s first song and it’s so good! Who knew Toby could sing this well?! I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it, I have a secret hope that Toby will sing this to Spencer in the finale of PLL but somehow I don’t think Marlene will have thought of it – though if by some miracle it does happen I will cry so much.

Day 3: A song that reminds you of summertime

Hey There Delilah – Plain White T’s:

I have a feeling this came out in the summer though I’m not 100% sure, but regardless of that it does remind me of summer. It’s not the most summery song but it reminds me of the kind of song you’d sing on a summer night when you’re missing the person you love and wish you could share the warm summer night with them – not that we get many of those in the UK, though we have been rather lucky recently!

Day 4: A song that reminds you of someone you would rather forget about

i hate u, i love u – gnash feat. Olivia O’Brien:

I’m not going into too much detail with this one but if you want to know my reasoning for this song see my post about FWB. The situation has changed even more since I posted it but long story short, I want to forget about him because he’s nothing but a liar, a cheat and a user. That being said I care way more than he deserves, which is why I chose this song.

Day 5: A song that needs to be played loud

All I Ever Wanted – Basshunter:

This song is 8 years old now but it’s still so good! It played – loudly – whilst I was at a trampoline park with Amber and Marie a couple of months back and we tried to sing along as we jumped around!

Day 6: A song that makes you want to dance

Dancing Queen – Meryl Streep, Julie Walters & Christine Baranski:

I may massively divide opinion here but I have to admit that I prefer the Mamma Mia cast versions to the original Abba songs… I’ve watched the film too many times to count and I can’t wait for the sequel next year!

Day 7: A song to drive to

Castle on the Hill – Ed Sheeran:

I don’t drive but if I did I would definitely drive to this. The lyrics say it all really; “I’m on my way, driving at 90, down those country lanes, singing to Tiny Dancer”. This really is a perfect driving song!

Next Friday I’ll post days 8-14, and at the end of the challenge I’ll post a link to a Spotify playlist with the whole 30 days’ songs on it.
